Classification of FANUC Robots
FANUC robots are classified into four types according to their arm motion. Cartesian robot arms move along three Cartesian axes; cylindrical robot arms provide vertical, rotary and extension movements; spherical robot arms provide rotary, pivoting and extension movements; and articulated robot arms have multiple rotary joints.
FANUC robots can also be classified as point-to-point or continuous-path robots according to their manipulator motion control capabilities. Point-to-point robots control only accurate positioning from one point to another and are suitable for machine loading and unloading, spot welding, general material handling and similar tasks. Continuous-path robots control manipulator movement along a specified path and are suitable for continuous welding, painting and similar tasks.
FANUC robots are divided into two categories according to how programs are entered: programmed input and teach-in input. For programmed input, task program files prepared on a computer are transferred to the robot controller cabinet through communication interfaces such as an RS232 serial port or Ethernet.
The FANUC-P-250iB painting robot is one of the most flexible and advanced painting robots currently on the market. It offers multiple mounting options to meet the demands of the most challenging painting environments. Its OpenArchitecture design allows it to accommodate standard FANUC integrated process equipment and makes it easy to integrate third-party industrial equipment. An optional arm-integrated start-up control cabinet mounts on the robot's vertical arm and can house FANUC-approved components to improve overall performance and painting quality. Its advantages fall into the following three categories.
1. Design Advantages
(1) Supports floor, inverted and inclined mounting.
(2) Can be easily configured for left-hand or right-hand operation, allowing symmetrical robot arrangements within the spray booth.
(3) Uses a standard process line layout.
(4) Offers the option of installing one or two process axes on the horizontal arm.
(5) Offers an optional electrically nonconductive nylon arm and wrist.
(6) Features a robot body designed for easy maintenance, with key components that are easy to remove.
(7) The high-strength, load-bearing arm and wrist design supports a variety of applicators, including rotary bells, conventional spray guns, electrostatic spray guns and multi-head spray guns.
(8) A flexible, customizable mounting structure enables an optimized robot layout within the spray booth.
2. Process Advantages
(1) The IPC system for 1K/2K gear pumps, the 1K closed-loop flow control system and the ICS system for internally charged waterborne paint automatically maintain the programmed flow rate, providing consistent paint delivery and high painting quality. Process equipment can be installed inside the vertical arm, placing it closer to the applicator for a faster, more accurate and more stable painting response.
(2) Controller cabinets for single-arm or dual-arm operation are available.
(3) Includes integrated diagnostics and reporting as standard.
(4) The Flip-Qver function provides the industry's largest working envelope.
(5) An equal-length arm design provides a larger effective working envelope.
3. Software Advantages
(1) PaintTOOL software provides the industry's most powerful, easy-to-use programming interface.
(2) Dual Check Safety software ensures the safety of painting equipment.
(3) Collision Guard collision protection software ensures the safety of painting equipment.
(4) AutoFlowChecker software monitors problems in the paint delivery system in real time.
(5) Built-in process parameter diagnostics, monitoring and reporting functions provide comprehensive statistical reports in real time.
(6) Supports multiple network communication protocols.
(7) Includes ROBOGUIDE PaintPRO offline 3D simulation and programming software.
(8) Supports the iPendant color graphical teach pendant and a standard intrinsically safe teach pendant.
The FANUC-P-250iB painting robot generally uses a hydraulic drive and features fast motion and good explosion protection. It can be taught through hand-guided teaching or by entering point coordinates. The FANUC-P-250iB painting robot is widely used in automotive, instrumentation, electrical appliance and enamelware production.
